Bizen-yaki is a type of Japanese pottery that is renowned for its iron-like hardness and distinctive earthy colors. Bizen is Japan’s oldest pottery making technique and made of clay high in iron content and other organic matter.
Because bizen is made of natural materials, the finish is created by slow firing over a long period of time. This allows for a variety of different results in firing, as the ash in the kiln and the rice straw wrapped around the ceramic will create their own markings, making each piece unique and different from the next.
This cup complements the TEP-209 – Black Bizen Tea Pot.
